Dawn of War IV Puts Space Marines on the Front Line at Kronus

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV puts its Space Marines in the spotlight in a new 2:24 CGI trailer, with the Blood Ravens and Dark Angels standing together in the battle for Kronus. IGN published the trailer on September 30, 2026, ahead of the PC strategy game’s launch on December 3.

The faction-focused reveal should land nicely for Warhammer fans keeping an eye on the genre, including those following the Total War: Warhammer 40,000 campaign. Here, the appeal is seeing two Space Marine chapters brought together against a hostile world, rather than getting a detailed look at how they play.

What the Space Marines trailer reveals

The trailer frames the Adeptus Astartes as humanity’s foremost defenders, equipped with ancient power armour and the Imperium’s finest weapons. They take on brutal missions and deadly enemies, but even these formidable warriors can be pushed to the brink on Kronus.

Publisher material adds context to the conflict: Kronus has a long history with the Blood Ravens and is an important recruitment world for the chapter. After the Great Rift cuts Captain Cyrus, Jonah Orion and their forces off from reinforcements, they suffer casualties and face waves of xenos forces before the Dark Angels arrive.

That sets up a dramatic reunion, though the trailer and supplied announcement do not explain chapter-specific controls or mission choices. The publisher describes Dawn of War IV as a real-time strategy game with four factions, multiple non-linear campaigns and multiplayer; fans interested in the wider battlefield side of the franchise can also find ranged combat in Total War: Warhammer 40,000.

Release date and Year One content

Dawn of War IV launches on PC on December 3, 2026. Commander Edition players get access three days earlier, beginning November 30.

The publisher’s Year One plans promise free updates as well as two major story expansions. The updates are set to bring back Crusade Mode and add maps, modes, Commanders and a Mission Editor, while the expansions will deepen the conflict on Kronus and introduce a new playable faction.
