We all deserve a break now and then. The older you get, the harder it is to find time. But in the release of the new Lush x Minecraft collection, you now have the perfect excuse. Not only can you take time for a bath, you can take time for a gamer bath.
As previously announced, Lush has now launched a special Minecraft collection of bath bombs and shower jellies, with multiple pieces themed after in-game items and enemies. There’s a Creeper Shower Bomb in the collection, a Diamond Pickaxe Bubble Bar, an Ender Dragon Egg, an Axolotol Bath Bomb, and more, each rendered in a neat voxel style.
Courtesy of Lush, I’ve utilised a range of these Bath Bombs over the last week – and they’ve all proved to be fabulous additions to the end of the working day. There’s no better feeling than ticking off your list of responsibilities and preparing for a spot of head-empty, candle-on, bath bomb fizzling relaxation.
I started off with the TNT Block Bath Bomb, out of pure curiosity. It didn’t explode my bath tub, as appearances would suggest, but it did turn my bath a shade of blood-orange that made bath time feel decidedly vampiric. It also fizzled and crackled very nicely, unleashing a flowery scent as it dissolved. I don’t have a particularly keen nose for scents, but according to the Lush website, this was a heady hit of jasmine, ylang ylang, and clary sage.
Beyond the novel TNT design, I particularly liked how quickly this dissolved, and how it produced some balletic shapes of colour as it filled the tub.
Next up was the Ender Dragon Egg – and this one was wild. It’s an enormous bath bomb that provides plenty of colour and smell, although because it’s a deep black-purple, it does cause some drama.
The first part of using this bath bomb was lovely. It’s rose/lemon-scented, which is a good combination that gives you floral traces. It also looks spectacular while dissolving, creating a purple-black-green froth that shimmers in the light. In photos, it looks bit murky and ugly, but the final result was a very inviting, swirling hue of dark purple glitter.

The best part of this bath bomb is that it hides a mini dragon inside. As you watch it dissolve, pieces fall away to reveal a soap bar inside, with this shaped like a tiny little Minecraft Ender Dragon. Strangely, it was a bit like discovering a toy inside a Kinder Surprise – but it did make bath time a bit fun and different.
As for the soap, it’s a reusable bar that will likely get you through 2-3 washes, and while it does appear black on the skin – which is a bit disconcerting – it washes away easily, it’s well-scented, and it leaves you feeling smooth head-to-toe. Like a polished rock.
The next part was a bit unfortunate, though. Because the Ender Dragon Egg is so big, it infuses the water with dark purple very well. Once you drain the bath tub, you’ll have black water everywhere – and you need to clean this right away, which does erase some of the relaxation of the bath. This is fairly standard for black or darker-coloured bath bombs, but it’s worth noting if you’re planning an ultra-chill bath time.
The lighter-coloured Axolotl Egg and Diamond Ore Block Bath Bombs were equally delightful, but far less maintenance-heavy. The pinks of the egg were particularly vivid and fun, and this bath bomb comes with the added benefit of including a random-coloured Axolotl soap. Baths don’t necessary need to be gamified, but there’s certainly a lot of excitement in waiting to see which Axolotl you’ll wind up with (mine was yellow, for reference.)
Lush really is onto something here. Each of the bath bombs in the Minecraft collections are well-designed and well-scented, and with those larger bath bombs hiding secret soaps, there’s a nice element of fun and surprise included. I can see this collection being popular with younger kids who love the game, but as an adult, it also very well combined childish glee with that all-important relaxation time.
If you’re looking for a break, you can now indulge a love for video games, while also taking the time to switch off and go ooze mode.
