The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom continues to look stunning, with a new gameplay-focussed trailer revealing more explorable biomes, friendly horses, and new abilities for Zelda. This deep dive expands on what was shown in the initial reveal trailer for the game, and reveals stronger ties with the overarching lore of The Legend of Zelda.
The primary reveal here is the Hyrule seen in Echoes of Wisdom is very familiar. It contains a Gerudo Desert filled with warriors, an Eldin Volcano filled with lava, and a newer location known as Jabul Waters, where Sea and Ocean Zora live – occasionally, in conflict.
In these lands and beyond, Zelda will encounter people “dealing with problems great and small” from warriors needing aid with monsters, to helpless villagers in sticky situations. With Zelda’s magical abilities, you’ll need to solve puzzles to aid these folks, while also advancing in your quest to save Hyrule from a dark, mysterious force.
As a smaller reveal, this latest trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom also confirmed fast travel can be unlocked, so you won’t need to cross the entirety of Hyrule by foot. And if you don’t want to walk or fast travel, you’ll eventually be able to summon a horse companion to take you further.

For those who enjoy dressing up in games, there’s also plenty for you here. To improve her abilities, Zelda will be able to equip new accessories and outfits, with each providing a particular boost – to swimming abilities, the appearance of hearts, diving abilities, and more. As the trailer notes, you’ll be supremely fashionable no matter which accessory you equip, which is an added bonus.
Another focus of the new trailer was puzzles. In Zelda’s travels through Hyrule, she’ll encounter a range of puzzles in need of solving. To that end, she’ll deploy her special abilities to experiment and advance – Echo, Bind, and more.
With Echo, Zelda is able to copy an object, and then recall it in another location. With the newly-revealed Bind ability, Zelda will be able to pick up and move objects with magic, shifting them around until she can move past them, or place them usefully. In the case of a particular cave puzzle shown off, Zelda is able to pick up a rock, and then throw it down a hole to keep moving through. You’ll need to play around with these abilities to figure out your own path forward, as the threats facing Hyrule advance.
As previously announced, you’ll be able to jump into The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom on Nintendo Switch from 26 September 2024.
