The PAX Aus 2024 Indie Showcase is now open for submissions, so those with a game ready for public display should prepare and apply as soon as possible. As in past years, the annual PAX Aus Indie Showcase will spotlight emerging games from Australia and New Zealand, with 10 titles selected for a free booth at PAX Aus 2024.
Six digital games will be featured in the showcase, and four tabletop games, with the winners being selected by a panel of “industry vets” with ample experience in judging. As noted by PAX Aus, past iterations of the Indie Showcase have featured games including Unpacking and Mini Metro, which have gone on to win major awards and accolades.
There’s a touch of prestige in being selected for the Indie Showcase, with only the most compelling and exciting games nabbing a coveted spot on the showfloor. Those who are selected will receive “significant promotion from PAX Aus across websites, social media, and show guides” as well as the aforementioned free booth – so it’s a significant marketing and profile-building opportunity.
To be eligible to apply, game developers must have a game prototype in at least beta form. Developers must be Australia or New Zealand based, and without a traditional publisher-developer relationship in place. Notably, games must also not be funded by an outside party – unless by a government grant or crowdfunding (which are both fine).

There is a USD $25 entry fee for applicants – likely as a means to quality control submitted games – but beyond this, the only real requirement for submission is to make sure you fit the set criteria, and adequately fill out the Indie Showcase application form.
Submissions for the Indie Showcase close on 20 June 2024, so there’s nearly two months to apply. Developers will be well told in advance of PAX Aus 2024, which takes place on 11-13 October 2024, whether their submission has been successful.
You can learn more about the application process, and the purpose of the PAX Aus Indie Showcase, on the official PAX Aus website.
