The all-new PlayStation Plus services have finally been dated and priced for Australia. Originally a subscription service that allowed access to online multiplayer functionality, store discounts, and a selection of free games and perks, the service will now be moving to a tiered model with different features for each.
When is new PlayStation Plus launching in Australia?
The new PlayStation Plus service will be launching in Australia on 22 June 2022, per the website hub.
Current members will automatically be migrated into an equivalent subscription plan on that date, which will likely be the base-level PS Plus Essential service.
Any stacked subscription periods users have already purchased will be kept, and you can upgrade to higher tiers at any time.

How much is new PlayStation Plus in Australia?
PlayStation Plus Essential
- 1 month: AUD $11.95
- 3 months: AUD $33.95
- 12 months: AUD $79.95
Essential includes core features such as: online multiplayer access, two PS4 games and one PS5 game to download every month, exclusive store discounts, and access to the PS Plus collection, according to the product page.
PlayStation Plus Extra
- 1 month: AUD $18.95
- 3 months: AUD $54.95
- 12 months: AUD $134.95
Essential benefits include everything in the Essential tier, but also features hundreds of downloadable PS4 and PS5 games.
PlayStation Plus Deluxe
- 1 month: AUD $21.95
- 3 months: AUD $63.95
- 12 months: AUD $154.95
Deluxe includes everything in the other plans, and also game trials, and ‘access to definitive games from years gone by in the Classics Catalogue.’ This includes PS1, PS2, and PSP games that can be downloaded.
This tier is exclusive to countries like Australia, where cloud streaming is not available. It does not include streaming access to PS3 games, like other regions.

What about PlayStation Plus Premium?
PS Plus Premium is a tier that is only available in regions which previously had PlayStation Now, a subscription-based service that provided access to a library of PS4, PS3, and PS2 games via cloud streaming.
It is not available in countries like Australia, where Sony has not rolled out cloud streaming services.
